EXHIBIT 19

Welcome to Exhibit 19 and the second "sidewalk to nowhere." So why does the Wilton Simpson Citrus Campus have two sidewalks that end in the field? The answer lies in campus history. The buildings numbers (C1, C2, C3, and C4) reflect the order of their construction. There was a point in the campus's development where the existing buildings had insufficient classroom space. Getting money from the State of Florida for new buildings is a slow process, and sometimes space shortage need fast soluttions. So two classroom trailers were brought on to the campus and these sidewalks led to those trailers. Once more permanent classroom space was built, the trailers were removed...but their sidewalks remain as a testament to the passage of time on a college campus. Of course, with their picnic tables, they also make great locations for BioDIT Citrus exhibits! Speaking of which, the two videos here explore some very Florida-specific aspects of climate and geography. One shows you how large bodies of water (like the Gulf and the Atlantic) influence climate, while the other shows you information about how Citrus County's specific climate is affected by its geography.
Videos are automatically muted. Make sure to unmute so you can hear the sounds!
Look across the field in the direction opposite the sidewalks to nowhere. (If you are looking at a building...any buidling...you are looking in the wrong direction!) You should see across the road a bright red birdhouse, which is part of the campus Butterfly Garden. Exhibit 20 is near that birdhouse.
