BioDiT Citrus: Exhibit 09: Ecology & Evolution Spotlight in Zoology

EXHIBIT 09

Oftentimes, organisms that are not closely related but which live in similar environments or which have similar diets end up looking a lot alike.  The process that produces unrelated organisms with similar body structures, shapes, or behaviors is called convergent evolution.  There are a lot of great examples of convergent evolution in nature, but flight is one of the most impressive.

Here you can take a closer look at the convergent evolution and flight posters, as well as watch a video that illustrates bird flight here on campus and elsewhere in Citrus County.

Videos are automatically muted.  Make sure to unmute so you can hear the sounds!
