EXHIBIT 17
As humans, we have an interest bias towards things that are like ourselves. Most people are more interested in animals than plants, in vertebrates than invertebrates, and in mammals more than anything else. We are especially biased towards big animals. It turns out, the majority of living organisms are a lot smaller than we are! Once open, this exhibit will explore the small world of insects, mosses, and lichens that grow and live around or on rocks...like the boulders in our campus field! It will also explore the island equilibrium concept, which is central to an area of ecology called biogeography.
Exhibit under construction.
Expected opening date is April 4, 2025.
