Example of Federal Work Study (FWS) role and potential tasks

Projects: Introduction to the Library

All tasks and projects at the library may include additional duties as assigned. A student assistant will need to complete the projects in addition to the usual daily and weekly tasks.

Note: If a student assistant returns for additional consecutive terms, retraining of tasks may occur. Projects also need to be updated accordingly.

  • Set a work schedule

Projects - Week 1 Introductory Training

A student assistant and supervisor will continue to discuss library tasks, training checklist, etc. in addition to the Week 1 Projects.

  • Complete reading CF Student Assistant handbook
  • Complete reading specific department additional information (FWS libguide, etc.)
  • Watch relevant training video(s)
  • Begin exploring websites:
    • CF, MyCF
    • Library website, catalog, guides, and databases
    • Library study rooms and events calendar
