Laptop Information

The CF Citrus Campus Library has laptops available to use onsite and off-campus.

To borrow equipment, a person must:

  • be currently enrolled or employed at CF
  • current CF students must be enrolled in and attending 1+ classes at CF, either onsite or online
  • present a current CF  ID  card and valid Florida driver's license or Florida ID card to library staff when borrowing equipment

Laptops and other select equipment may be borrowed for onsite or off-campus use.

  • All library items are 1st come, 1st served.
  • Must be borrowed/returned in person, by the person using it
  • Borrowed/returned to its campus location (ex. a laptop from CF Citrus Campus must be returned at its library)
  • Request equipment by emailing citruslb@cf.edu (EZ form coming soon!)

Processing Time: About 15 minutes. Includes paperwork, processing, borrowing/checking out item(s).

Please see library staff if equipment is needed during exam weeks.

Items may not be borrowed for off-campus use during the following:

  • Between terms/term breaks
  • Winter Break includes the following estimated dates: December 5th - January 5th

Terms and conditions may apply for any and all equipment borrowed for use either on-campus for off-campus. See the Terms and Conditions tab for more information.

If a person needs to withdraw from CF or otherwise not attend classes, all library items including equipment must be returned to the library within 5 business days.

Terms and Conditions include but are not limited to the following:

Terms & Conditions:

  • The student agrees that he/she is fully liable for loss or damage to the equipment, at the full cost of the equipment or repair, regardless of who is negligent or damages the equipment. Including the follow terms:

    • If, after an IT staff inspection, it is determined that I damaged the laptop screen, hardware and/or casing, the student will be charged repair or replacement costs.
    • If after an IT staff inspection, it is determined that the student did not return all cables or accessories, that student will be charged replacement costs
    • If the student tampers with the equipment, they will be charged to repair or replace the laptop and any cables or accessories and may also be subject to disciplinary action.
    • College of Central Florida (CF) is not responsible for damage to data caused by viruses that may exist on the network or are spread through the network or from software malfunctions.
    • CF is not responsible for damage to external drives or any other devices plugged into the laptop.
    • Students should not save files on the laptop’s hard drive and should save them to another location. All files left on the laptop will be erased. CF accepts no responsibility for lost files.
  • Student must return all loaned equipment to CF in person, no later than 10 business days from the end of the semester. The equipment shall be inspected for any visible damage and the student shall be held responsible according to the terms of this agreement.

  • The student agrees that all repairs and upgrades must be made through CF IT and that no user repairs, outside third-party services, or other repairs are authorized or permitted. The student understands that he/she will be liable for all alterations and additions to the Computer Equipment and any software changes made to the equipment not performed by or at the direction of CF IT.

  • Throughout the term of this agreement, the student shall use the equipment in accordance with CF policies on the appropriate use of computer resources. The student shall not permit any other person to possess or use this equipment. Commercial use of the equipment is prohibited.

  • The student agrees not to sell, assign, sublet, or otherwise encumber any interest in this Agreement or the Computer Equipment without the prior written consent of CF.

  • The student agrees NOT to permit the Equipment to be used in violation of any law, permit the Computer Equipment to be operated in a reckless or abusive manner, or tamper with any hardware within the Computer Equipment.

  • The student shall comply with all applicable copyright and other regulations regarding the software.

  • It is acknowledged by the student, by signing this agreement, that the equipment is provided by CF to aid and to further the student's education at CF. Any information or data not related to the student's course work, education, or research at CF may be deleted from the equipment by CF IT staff.

  • The student acknowledges that CF is obligated to turn any information or files found to violate Civil or Criminal Laws over to the proper authorities and that the student authorizes release of this information by the signing of this agreement.

  • In the event of student's default under the terms of this agreement, or in the event CF is required to retain the services of an attorney to collect the sums due under this agreement, the student shall be responsible for all attorney's fees, court costs, disbursements and other reasonable expenses incurred by CF.

Chromebook laptop:

  • Access to Office 365 (via MyCF)
  • Charging cord: included
  • Microphone: available
  • Webcam: available
  • Wifi: available
  • Ports: HDMI, USB (jump/travel drive), SD card
    • Note: ethernet port not included
  • Laptops, GMetrix, and MS Office Suite:
    • Chromebook laptops are unable to run the GMetrics program and complete MS Office Suite at this time
    • On-campus library computers are compatible with GMetrics and MS Office Suite.

Laptop Login Information

Signing in and online meetings:

  • Patrons sign in to laptop using their own google account. Please sign out before returning laptop.
  • Zoom, if needed, will need to be installed by patron.
  • Separate webcams, wired mice, and more are also available for checkout.

Laptop Borrowing and Returns

Picking up and more:

  • Borrow library item(s) using your CF  ID  card.
  • Laptops, other equipment, and more items may be picked up during the library’s hours of operation.

Borrowing laptops and other select equipment available:

  • Starting the first day of classes
    • August - April
      • Monday - Thursdays 8:30am - 5:30pm
      • Fridays 8:30am - 4pm
    • May - July
      • Monday - Thursdays 8am - 4pm
  • All library items are 1st come, 1st served.

  • Must be borrowed/returned in person, by the person using it
  • Borrowed/returned to its campus location (ex. a laptop from CF Citrus Campus must be returned at its library)

Off-campus use:

  • Standard: Items may be borrowed for 2 weeks at a time.
  • Extended: Borrow equipment over a term, with 2 week renewals!
    • The student must bring all borrowed equipment to the owning library every two weeks to keep using the equipment and renew the contract.
