Printing

CF is going green and we need your support.

Effective July 1, 2009, CF will no longer provide paper and printers in the Learning Resources Center or computer labs. The CF Bookstore will provide printing services for all documents. Just bring your flash drive to building 36 for for a nominal pay-per-page charge.

To print on campus, take your flash drive to the CF Bookstore (352-861-4412). The cost is 20 cents per page.

To print at the Bookstore, your saved documents must be on a flash drive.

To print off campus, Office Depot in Gateway Plaza and Staples on Shady Road offer printing services (both are open until 9:00pm most weeknights).

You can also upload your print jobs at the Office Depot website or the Staples website and pick them up at a store near you.

To save work you have done on a CF computer to print at a future time, you can send your work (and full-text articles and even web pages) to your e-mail as an attachment. You can also use the notepad feature in your e-mail provider if available (Yahoo, for one, has this option).

If you do not have an e-mail account, there are many free
e-mail providers, including Yahoo, Google and Hotmail. Search for “free e-mail” on the web. You will need to register with the website. Please remember your username and password because the LRC staff cannot retrieve them for you.

There are also many websites that can store your files on the web for later use and printing. Search for “free file hosting” on the web. You may need to register with the website. It is a good practice to retrieve the file immediately after uploading it to make sure it is there.

For more information about saving or emailing full-text LINCCWeb articles, check out the Databases PowerPoint.

Did you know…

In 2008-2009 CF students averaged printing 2,900 sheets a day at Ocala Campus Learning Resources Center.

Students printed an average of 58,000 sheets of paper per month from this location.

In a year that would be 696,000 sheets of paper filled with ink and toner that end up in a landfill.

One ream (500 sheets) uses 6 percent of a tree.

According to conservatree.com the average college student produces 640 pounds of solid waste each year, including 500 disposable cups and 320 pounds of paper.

To support sustainability efforts, CF encourages you to think before you print.

Thank you for helping CF stay GREEN.
