REFERENCE SERVICES

Reference Librarians are available to provide instruction and assistance with locating information whenever the library is open. The librarians are also available for consultation on classroom assignments that involve the library, research, or information skills, and they create guides on topics such as citation styles or finding information on particular subjects. If you would like a librarian to create a specialized handout for your class, or if you would like research assistance, just call the Reference Desk (ext. 1345 or 6119).

LINCCWEB

LINCCWeb (www.linccweb.org) gives you access to the CFCC online catalog, which lists all materials on our campuses.

To find information about the books and videos in our library:

LINCCWeb also provides access to 70+ periodical article databases. Most of these databases provide the full text of some of the indexed articles. For a complete list of these full-text databases, take a look at the Databases page.

To access magazine, journal, and newspaper articles:

  • Go to LINCCWeb
  • Click on Search a Specific Database
  • Select Central Florida Community College, and enter your 9-digit borrower identification number and PIN (last four digits of your 9-digit ID number)
  • Click Submit

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

LINCCWeb provides access to all the Florida community college library catalogs. If current students, faculty, or staff would like materials that are not available on CFCC campuses, those items can usually be borrowed from other libraries.

Click here for step-by-step instructions on requesting items from other libraries.

CIRCULATION SERVICES

Faculty can check out 25 items at one time with their CFCC ID card. These books can be kept until the end of the semester in which they were checked out, although they can be recalled if another borrower requests them any time after two weeks. Faculty can also check out DVDs and videos for 3 weeks with one renewal, and can borrow magazine and journal issues for 3 days. To borrow any materials, faculty are requested to present their CFCC ID card. Faculty are held financially responsible for all lost materials.

RESERVE SERVICES

Faculty may place required readings, supplemental materials, solutions manuals, or extra credit assignments on reserve. These items can be personal copies or library materials. Personal copies will be labeled and a security beeper attached. If you would like to place items on reserve, bring them to the Circulation Desk and a staff member will assist you with filling out the Reserve Request Form. The materials will be available to students after approximately 24 hours. Copyright laws will be followed.

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY/TRANSPARENCIES

If you need an event or classroom activity videotaped or photographed, or need assistance with lamination or overhead transparencies, call ext. 1328 or 1343 or 6119.

SATELLITE/CATV SERVICES

Teleconferences and new telecourses are arranged through the Distance Learning department (ext. 1403), and the videotapes for your students are reproduced by the AV staff and made available at both campuses’ Circulation Desks. For CATV assistance, call ext. 1328 or 1343.

SCANTRON TEST-SCORING MACHINE

The Health Occupations Department funded a Scantron test-scoring machine which is located in the Ocala Library only, and is available to all faculty members during the Ocala Library hours. Bring the necessary supplies and view a 15 minute videotape if you are not familiar with using this model.

SPECIAL NEEDS

The libraries purchase videos and DVDs that have closed captioning when they are available. If you or your students require any special assistance, please let us know.

SUGGESTIONS

You are encouraged to give ideas and suggestions to the Library staff. We welcome your input and with your assistance will continue to provide the best possible service to our students, faculty, staff and community.
