JOHN AND SANDY HARTIGAN EQUINE COLLECTION
Donated in memory of the Hartigans,
who perished in an aircraft accident in 1986.
|
The Hartigans were major contributors to the thoroughbred industry in Marion County. John Hartigan was the farm manager at 3 M’s Tartan Farms and later developed his own farm, Cashel Stud. Many thoroughbreds from these Ocala farms attained national status, including Intentionally, In Reality, Dr. Fager, Mac Diarmida, Honey Fox and Toga Toga.
The core collection of 82 books has been greatly expanded over the years through subsequent donations of equine titles. This collection is located on the second floor of the library and is interfiled in the general collection by Library of Congress call number. Most of the titles are located in the SF section of the collection.
